Capital Raising for Sovereigns and Corporations
Coral Juarez-Ard Dawson advises companies and governments globally. Known for her strategic vision, innovative problem-solving and exceptional interpersonal skills, Coral has built a distinguished career as an advisor and thought leader at the intersection of global finance, public policy, and advocacy.
Today, Coral is focused on matching capital with exceptional operators on behalf of NYBay's clients in any market.
Coral has dedicated most of her career to developing and executing strategy for global financial institutions. At Citigroup, she both advised clients as a senior banker and helped manage the Financial Institutions Investment Banking Group during the Global Financial Crisis. She served as the Chief of Staff to the only Senior Vice Chairman of Citigroup and President and CEO of Citibank, N.A. William R. Rhodes. Previously, she executed strategic transactions for Citigroup during its most acquisitive era including transformative deals such as Citi's $12.5B acquisition of Grupo Banamex, the merger with Bank Handlowy in Poland and the $31.1B purchase of consumer finance company Associates First Capital Corporation along with many others. To communicate the strategic rationale and value of those investments to institutional investors and the broader market, at the request of the CFO, she moved to Investor Relations where she supported two successive CFOs.
Coral began her career in cross border M&A with the first investment of size into Mexico post the 1994 peso devaluation (Texas Pacific Group's $50MM into Grupo Milano) with NYBay Capital’s Founder. She covered Latin American Financial Institutions at Salomon Smith Barney as part of the #1 ranked equity research franchise and returned to deal making as part of the strategic M&A team at the newly formed Citigroup in 1999.
Coral is committed to advancing policy improvements at all levels of government. As an individual member of the Bretton-Woods Committee she collaborates on work to foster global financial stability and economic growth. Independently, she successfully advised the Argentine Government to establish the first ever G20 Global Insurance Forum in 2018. Locally, she has served over a decade on Manhattan Community Board 2 as well as on the rezoning of SoHo and Hudson Square, the Manhattan Borough President's Vaccine Task Force and the Manhattan Borough President's Small Business Task Force. She is also an advocate for universal screening for dyslexia and open space.
Coral is a graduate of Princeton University where she majored in Politics while also completing the programs in Political Economy and Latin American Studies and studying abroad in Santiago, Chile. Born in Mexico and raised in Dallas, she retains the Texan mentality that anything is possible, while happily choosing to live in New York City for more than 25 years where anything IS possible!
